Special Education (36 hours)


The M.Ed. in Special Education is a unique program that will enable candidates to earn the master degree and teaching licensure in Special Education.  Candidates will choose the K-8 or 6-12 Interventionist license or K-12 Comprehensive license. The program will provide candidates with coursework in Special Education that addresses a wide range of topics from disabilities to instructional strategies to legal issues. Candidates will develop effective communication and collaboration skills in special education and will practice the creation, implementation, and use of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Candidates also have the option to take courses in applied behavior analysis and continue with the certificate in applied behavior analysis.

Course Requirements


All M.Ed. candidates take the following two courses as non-credit, no-charge, and pass/fail, one during their first semester and one during the semester in which they graduate:
