MU 2133 - Theory III (3) SP A study of chromaticism in the common practice period, including an introduction to Schenkerian reduction techniques and the Nashville number system. The course explores parallels in nomenclature and technique between the common practice and contemporary music, analyzing both classical scores and lead sheets. Minimum grade of “C” is required to move forward to MU 2143 , MU 3013 , MU 3112 , MU 3413 , MU 3423 , MU 4103 or MU 4113 .
Prerequisite: Minimum “C” in MU 1143 (Theory II) Corequisite: MU 2111 (Sight-Singing, Ear-Training III)
