EN 3033 - History of the English Language (3) F A study of the development of the English language as manifested in changes in its phonology, morphology, grammar and semantics, especially as these can be understood in relation to culture and to some fundamentals of linguistics. Although some attention is given to Indo-European correspondences, the emphasis is on developments from the Old English Period to the present, including American dialects.
Prerequisites: English 21n3 and EN 3013 .
