CM 2113 - Organic Chemistry I (3) F, SU Presents nomenclature, structure-property relationships, bonding theory, stereochemistry, reactions, and reaction mechanisms in such a way to require understanding and application of principles and problem solving as applied to organic chemistry. Emphasizes reactions involving proton transfer, nucleophilic substitution, elimination, and electrophilic addition to nonpolar pi bonds. This course complements the organic laboratory course, CM 2211 .
Prerequisites: CM 1123 and CM 1221 . CM 2113 requires completion of CM 1123 with a grade of “C” or higher. Corequisite: CM 2211 . Lecture, 3 hours.
