PERF 5225 - Principles and Practice in Perfusion Technology II (5) This course is the second part of a three-part series providing the basic perfusion content for entry-level perfusion practice. The course of study will continue with the basic sciences of perfusion care. Course work will be offered in both a traditional educational manner and in a problem-based learning environment. Instruction includes perfusion basic science such as physics of flow/pressure/resistance, circulatory and cardiac dynamics, microcirculation, acid-base, clinical laboratory and hemostasis/coagulation management, special perfusion techniques for adult and pediatric patients, and other matters related to perfusion safety. Additionally, matters regarding professional practice (informatics, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, business practices, operating room systems, and similar topics) are interspersed throughout the course.
