PERF 5403 - Perfusion Monitoring (3)

This course prepares the perfusion student for monitoring cardiovascular hemodynamics in the operating room environment. This course provides an overview of patient monitoring, especially the critically ill cardiovascular surgical patient. The course takes an in-depth look at various hemodynamic  parameters monitored in cardiac surgery. Course lectures revolve around hemodynamic monitoring principles. This monitoring course covers physics principles, electricity, electrical safety, transducers, and physiological reproduction of events. This course also includes evaluating EKG’s, arterial line waveforms, pulmonary artery waveforms, and caveforms and physioloentral venous pressure waveforms that are routinely monitored in cardiac surgery. The student will learn to assess tissue oxygenation, oxygen delivery and content. The ultimate goal is to interpret and analyze clinical data.  An in-depth analysis of these components is fundamentally consistent to the basic understanding of perfusion care practices.
