EG 6533 - Cross-Functional Teaming (3)

How do leaders create, support, and evaluate the learning of teams across organizational boundaries? How do cross-functional teams tackle complex, multifaceted problems in a dynamic environment? Candidates will investigate the tremendous impact of teaming across roles and job titles to maximize the collective wisdom of the team while limiting the knowledge-boundaries that typically exist when working alone or on intradepartmental teams. A focus on purpose-driven projects as the primary unit for execution and exploration of innovative work will be explored through in-depth study of literature and case studies. Candidates will take strengths-based assessments and research the building, monitoring, coaching, and evaluation of learning outcomes of cross-functional teams. The impacts of emotional intelligence on internal and external stakeholders will require candidates to reflect on personal strengths, political, ethical, and cultural biases, and the management of micro- and macro-relationships between teammates. Course assignments will culminate in the Key Assignment, which will require candidates to gather input, focus a team on the most important areas of work, build a cross-functional team, and map a timeline and action plan.
