PHAD 2222 - Principles of Health Care Delivery (2) Content of course to include introduction to U.S., state and local health care delivery systems and their interfaces; social, political and economic factors of the U.S. health care delivery system; principles that influence the distribution of pharmaceutical products and services; role of public and private insurers, pharmaceutical industry and managed care on health care delivery in the U.S.; Medicaid and Medicare, including Part D; indigent care programs; incidence of and problems associated with drug overuse, under use and misuse in the U.S. health care system; off-label drug use; issues relating to health care policy; the evolution of health care insurance; managed care; government’s role in health care; community and institutional reimbursement issues; collaborative practice agreements; and prescriptive authority.
