CL 5053 - Introduction to Civic Leadership (3) This course provides an overview to the field of Civic Leadership. Drawing on social science research, the course explores how civic leaders contribute to problem identification, issue framing, change management, and program design, adoption, and evaluation. Strategies, skills and acumen needed to successfully address these leadership responsibilities will be discussed. Additionally, this course focuses on the basic principles of personal leadership that are prerequisites to leading others. Students will focus on their individual personal development by assessing and identifying their strengths and weaknesses as leaders. Emphasis will be placed on personal vision, goals, spiritual assessment and reflection. The entire course is intended to address the growing national concern about the decline in civic engagement and political participation.
