Film and Creative Media
The Master of Fine Arts in film and creative media, or M.F.A., is a more intensive degree that allows students the ability to specialize in narrower areas of interest. The M.F.A. is also considered a terminal degree, meaning that a person with this type of degree is qualified to teach at the collegiate level.
Courses required for the MFA (62hrs)
MFA Writer/Director Emphasis
In this track, students focus on writing for film and television and build the technical and creative skills of a director for both film and television.
Summer I
The FCM 5233 class travels to Cannes France for the Cannes Film Festival. The festival is every year in May. Students may opt out of the course but are still required to complete the 3 credit hours with another course.
Summer II
These courses are held in Los Angeles for a Summer Study in Los Angeles program. If a student chooses not to participate in the Los Angeles program they will take other courses offered on campus.
MFA Writer/Producer Emphasis
In this track, students focus on writing for film and television and build the creative and business skills of a producer for film and television.
