Gifted Education and Advanced Academics, M.Ed.

The M.Ed. in Gifted Education and Advanced Academics is designed to prepare teachers and leaders to effectively teach gifted students and lead gifted programs. Candidates will be prepared to design and lead gifted services through appropriate curricular and programming decisions that enhance student learning for this population. Graduates will be able to use their skills and knowledge in careers as gifted education teachers, consultants, and coordinators of advanced academic programs in public and private schools and community programs. When candidates complete the program and successfully pass the Praxis Exam, they may apply for a TN Endorsement PK-12.

Course Requirements
All M.Ed. candidates take the following two courses as non-credit, no-charge, and pass/fail, one during their first semester and one during the semester in which they graduate:
Leadership Core
Required for all candidates in advanced programs, with the exception of School Counseling (15 hours)
M. Ed. Gifted Education and Advanced Academics
M.Ed. Leadership Core + 15 hours
