Certificate of Graduate Studies in Intercultural Communication

This 15-hour program focuses on the essential concepts, theories, research findings, principles, and skills for improving communication by reducing misunderstandings or managing conflict between persons from different minority, racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. The program is designed to help graduate students think about and apply relevant communication theory and research findings to the socio-cultural implications of various communication technologies and situations. One organizing goal for the program of study is Intercultural Communication Competence (ICC). ICC is the knowledge, skill, and abilities to communicate effectively and appropriately across various cultural contexts.
