Before entering this program, students must have significant independent undergraduate research experience in molecular biology (minimum 1 full-time summer and 1 additional semester), preferably with completion of an undergraduate research methods course. Students must also pass a laboratory techniques assessment. Upon successful completion of laboratory techniques assessment, students may be allowed to gain credit for BMS 5113 and bypass BMS 5123.
