Educational Leadership, Master of Education, (M.Ed.)

The M.Ed. in Educational Leadership is aligned to national and state standards for school leadership and includes an explicit focus on character development, business acumen, and conflict management. The program is designed to equip future school leaders to manage change, resulting in higher levels of learning in the classroom for all students. This learner-centered program takes a unique approach to training effective school administrators of strong character and moral development. Not only does the program prepare participants for licensure as instructional leaders, but it also has a distinctive emphasis in change, ethical leadership, and practical experiences. Learning opportunities include collaboration with a mentor/coach throughout the program to prepare participants for the challenges of today’s school leadership. The program is designed to meet the scheduling needs of the working professional. The M.Ed. in Educational Leadership can be completed within 18 months with classes conveniently scheduled online and on campus during summers, weeknights and on weekends.

Applicants must have three years of educational experience. A passing score on the School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLA) is a graduation requirement for this program. 

Course Requirements

The M.Ed. in Educational Leadership includes a leadership mentorship where candidates work with a school leader to explore educational topics at a deeper, authentic level through coaching sessions and job shadowing days. These authentic experiences satisfy the residency requirement of the program and are included within the courses in the residency core below. Candidates pursuing the M.Ed. in Educational Leadership will take the three mentorship courses below:
