Dyslexia Therapy, Master of Education, (M.Ed.)


The Master of Education in Dyslexia Therapy prepares educators to provide evidence-based intervention for students with dyslexia and related reading disorders. Grounded in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy, the program integrates advanced coursework with supervised clinical practicum experiences leading toward Academic Language Therapist (CALT) certification. Candidates develop expertise in phonological processing, orthography, morphology, multisyllabic word analysis, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, written expression, diagnostic assessment, and progress monitoring.

M.Ed. Dyslexia Therapy Curriculum Requirements for CALT Certified Students


Students who already hold the Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) credential will be granted 18 hours of coursework within the M.Ed. in Dyslexia Therapy program. The Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) is the professional credentialing organization for those trained in Multisensory Structured Language Education and Therapy. ALTA Certified Academic Language Therapists and Certified Academic Language Practitioners provide effective, evidence-based reading and writing instruction to individuals with dyslexia and related learning disabilities. Candidates who hold a valid CALT certification have demonstrated mastery of advanced competencies in structured literacy, language development, assessment, and clinical practice. Based on this demonstrated proficiency, qualified candidates will be awarded 18 hours of graduate credit for the following equivalent courses.
