The Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) program is a Christ-centered program that integrates liberal arts education with specialized coursework in communication sciences, preparing students with the foundational knowledge required for success in post-baccalaureate master’s programs and careers in speech-language pathology assisting. Students may pursue either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree with options for both clinical and non-clinical tracks. The clinical track provides supervised field experiences in the assessment and treatment of communication disorders across diverse populations and settings, while the non-clinical track focuses on theoretical foundations and research.  The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based practice, ethical service delivery, and understanding the intersectionality of disability and culture. Core coursework includes communication development, phonetics, anatomy and physiology for CSD, foundations of neurodiversity, clinical methods, and specialized study of pediatric and adult communication disorders.  Clinical track students complete observational and hands-on practicum experiences under the supervision of certified speech-language pathologists. The program culminates in a capstone research experience that prepares students for graduate-level study or immediate entry into speech-language pathology assistant roles, pending state licensure requirements.
