What really happened between Galileo and the Catholic Church? Why are nonreligious scientists nonreligious? How should Christians interpret the Bible in relation to science? These kinds of questions form the heart of this introductory course on the field of Science and Religion. Focus is given to historical episodes, sociological findings, biblical interpretation, and philosophical perspectives. Topics include origins, climate change, technology, and divine action, among others. Students will gain both broad and narrow content knowledge, exposure to major contemporary players and resources, and a fledgling competency to contribute to the field.
