BY 3123 - Animal Nutrition (3) F Offered in alternate years This course is designed to introduce concepts and principles of nutrition. Concepts generally apply to all species with some interesting differences among species. Nutrition of all domestic livestock will be addressed. Students will learn the complete metabolism of nutrients - carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and minerals. This includes the digestion, absorption, and metabolism of these nutrients for maintenance, growth, reproduction, lactation and work by farm animals. Also, the role and requirements of water and vitamins are explored.
