CM 1014 - General, Organic, and Biochemistry I (4) F


An introduction to the principles of general, organic, and biochemistry designed to meet the needs of non-science students interested in dietetics, nutrition, and family and consumer sciences. This course assumes no background in chemistry. Special emphasis is given to nutrition and food chemistry and will include topics such as atomic structure, bonding theory, molecular geometry, properties of solutions, gas laws, chemical kinetics, chemical equilibrium, and the structure, nomenclature, and properties of various organic functional groups.

Lecture is 3 hours; laboratory is 2 hours.
