PERF 5233 - Pathophysiology and Treatment Options (3)

This course is designed to explore pathophysiology and treatment options related to common conditions involving both adult and pediatric cardiovascular patients. Through an interprofessional approach the diseased state is interrogated to gain a clinical understand of the standard course of therapy resulting in the applications of extracorporeal appliances and/or support. The progression of pathology is followed to observe the evolution and limitations as it pertains to therapeutic verses supportive options. This course will provide the student with a comprehensive approach to the treatment of cardiac pathology to enhance the understanding of the interplay between the application of extracorporeal technology and other less invasive therapeutic options.
