Dietetic Internship Certificate

Lipscomb is the first college among the Christian colleges in the Southeast to house a Dietetic Internship (DI) Program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). The internship program began in 2002 and is a post-baccalaureate certificate program in which interns complete more than 1,200 hours of supervised practice and 12 hours of graduate course work. Eligibility for the DI requires a verification statement from an accredited dietetics program and participation in the Dietetic Internship Centralized Application Services (DICAS) national spring matching process. Interns complete weekly rotations in a wide variety of settings, including clinical, community, wellness, sports nutrition, and food service areas of dietetics. Upon completion of the internship, students are eligible to write the Registration Examination for Dietitians. The internship offers three concentration areas of study: Medical Nutrition Therapy, Health Promotion and Wellness, or Sports Nutrition.

Internship Courses

Internship courses are built into the internship program, comprised of orientation, didactic coursework, workshops, field trips, and experiential rotations.
