Career Creativity Certificate (12 Hours)
The CEA Career Creativity Certificate is an optional certificate program that seeks to address the changing professional landscape confronted by the graduating BFA student. The National Endowment for the Arts Creativity Connects report emphasizes that 21st century artists must think, work and create in interdisciplinary ways. It also brings attention to growing opportunities for artists in non-traditional environments. The Integrated Creativity Certificate addresses these concerns, while serving as a launch pad for departmental growth and positive change moving forward. Students who complete the certificate program can expect to be better prepared to thrive through greater creativity, entrepreneurship, collaborative experiences with both traditional and non-traditional partners, and training in a culture of making.
The Career Creativity Certificate is centered around 4classes, culminating in a senior capstone class designed to demonstrate significant creativity in interdisciplinary teams. Capstone projects are student-directed but overseen by faculty. Success in the capstone project will require agile creative thinking, mastery of a core artistic skill, and the ability to add artistic value across disciplines through collaboration. Finished capstone projects are expected to result in portfolio-level artistic work.
