School Counseling (44/46 hours)


NOTE:  PSG/COUN 5303 Lifespan Development or PS 3243 Human Development and Learning (or equivalent undergraduate course) is a prerequisite for entry into this program.

The College of Education offers an Ed.S. in School Counseling with an emphasis in college access and success open to licensed teachers (Advanced) and to candidates who are not currently licensed to teach (Initial).  Candidates will take courses in the major as well as practicum-internship courses. The program will meet state standards as a preparation for licensure in School Counseling. As well as content common to all school counseling programs, this unique school counseling program will focus on helping students prepare for, apply to, and succeed at postsecondary education. Candidates will earn an Ed.S. degree and an endorsement as a school counselor in preK-12. The candidate will also develop and implement an individual research project.
