Nursing: Traditional BSN Program (pre-licensure)

Lipscomb University’s Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is a 128-credit-hour program designed to equip and empower nurses to care for patients across the lifespan. Throughout the upper division BSN curriculum, student nurses engage in over 580 contact hours of clinical experiences in a variety of healthcare settings, including but not limited to pediatrics, intensive care, emergency care, mental health, and obstetrics.


Graduates of Lipscomb’s BSN program are prepared to sit for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing - Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) exam (licensure is required for clinical practice) with the majority of graduates passing on the first attempt (see lipscomb.edu/nursing for statistics).

Medical Terminology online (non-credit) course*^ is required for all nursing students before entering the upper division curriculum of the pre-licensure BSN program option.  

Course Completion Deadline(s):

  • Students beginning the upper division curriculum in the Fall of an academic year
    • Course completion deadline = July 1st of that year
  • Students beginning the upper division curriculum in the Spring of an academic year 
    • Course completion deadline = November 30th of that year

*Specific course information will be distributed to students by their assigned nursing advisor 

Applicable transfer credit may be approved upon review by the School of Nursing and University Registrar
