MC 6003 - Mass Communication Messages and Effects (3) F This course focuses on the processes through which technology mediated mass communication messages effect people who consume or experience such communication. It examines major scholarly approaches and applied research findings for understanding media effects on individuals, groups, and societies. Specifically, questions about what, how, why, who, and when mediated messages influence audiences and in turn how audiences select, interpret, use, and respond to mediated messages. The course covers a wide range of relevant theory, models and research findings including aspects related to technological determinism and media ecology.
