ADV 6913 - Graduate Internship in Advertising (3) F, SP, SU

An internship is an academically supervised experiential learning activity. Internships are experiential learning opportunities, provided by partnerships with the academy, graduate students, and clients to give students practical experiences in the advertising professional field by working on-site in a communication related internship/working context. Graduate internships require a minimum of 135 working “learning activity contact hours” on communication professional related tasks, professional and academic supervision, and a Reflective Analysis Assignment. The expectation is that the internship will provide a rigorous applied educational experience for the student. Internships are usually on-site in a partner organization, where the student is physically present at the work location on a regularly scheduled basis. The internship provides the capacity for the student to gain professional field experience with both academic and professional supervision and mentoring. Internship placements can be arranged with a wide range of clients including local, regional, national, and international businesses, not-for-profit organizations, schools, associations, and government agencies. Internships may be paid or unpaid. Internships require the approval of the Director of Graduate Programs in Communication.
