PR 6023 - PR Spokesperson and Executive Speechwriter (3) SP


This course provides a comprehensive study of the theory and best practices related to the role and function of the public relations spokesperson and executive speechwriter. Spokesperson role topics include rhetorical forms and types of speeches, arrangement, purpose, aspects of effective presentation, audience analysis and rhetorical situational analytics, speaking in a press conference, staying on message, answering challenging and trap (“gotcha”) questions, talking points, and other aspects of being an effective spokesperson. Speechwriting role topics covered include the speechwriting process, working directly with senior executives or leaders to determine what points, themes, positions, or messages the executive would like to make, revising drafts, and incorporating changes, and coaching the speaker.
