PR 6243 - Crisis and Emergency Communication (3) SU

This course covers the principles, theories, models and research findings of crisis, disaster and emergency communication including aspects of how best to address different challenges while communicating during a crisis or emergency. Topics include the crisis communication lifecycle, categories of crisis communication situations, message creating and processing variables under stress conditions, aspects of warning message effectiveness, human behavioral compliance variables, message mapping, emergency notification, reputation crises, brand and image repair, media relations, self-created crises, and social media firestorms.
