MBA Concentration Requirements (minimum 9 hours)
Accounting and Finance Concentration (minimum 9 hours)
For those students interested in the accounting courses, the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy requires CPA exam candidates to complete 150 hours of education, with specific requirements in both accounting (30 hours) and business (24 hours). Interested students should seek specific advising from Lipscomb’s department of accounting to plan a schedule which enables the student to meet all state board requirements.
Note:
The accounting courses have prerequisites from several different undergraduate accounting courses. See each course’s description for specific details.
The finance courses require BU 6053 to be taken either before or concurrently with any finance elective course.
Required courses for the accounting and finance concentration:
The student must take nine hours from the following list of courses for the accounting and finance concentration:
MBA Core Courses (27 hours required)
The Lipscomb MBA includes 12 required core courses to be completed by all graduate students.
Concentration Electives
Students select nine hours of concentration electives from three current concentration options or a distributed concentration made up of the student’s choice of nine hours from among the concentrations.
