LJS 3983 - Research Methods (3) F

This course acts as the methods course for the Law, Justice, and Society capstone, and focuses on both research and applied practice. Students in the course will be introduced to a range of methodologies commonly deployed in social science research in preparation for the capstone project. The course is ultimately designed to help students better understand the world around them and give them the tools to explore their research interests and passions. This class walks students through the entire research process-how to formulate a good research question, how to conduct a literature review, and an evaluation of both qualitative and quantitative research methods. This includes qualitative and quantitative research, intensive interviewing, survey research, participant observation, participatory action research, community studies, policy analysis, evaluation research and research ethics. After completing the course, students should be prepared to conduct a scholarly research project in LJS4203.
