ED 3643 - Classroom Communities (3)

This course empowers candidates to create supportive, inclusive, and thriving classroom communities where all students feel valued and motivated to succeed. Candidates will explore how their own beliefs and vision as teachers influence student behavior and the overall learning environment. Through the study of relevant theories, evidence-based strategies, and practical applications, candidates will learn to design and evaluate approaches for fostering a positive, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed classroom culture.

Key topics include the impact of asset-based practices, strategies for effectively addressing challenging behaviors, and methods for restoring and strengthening community bonds. Candidates will also explore ways to engage families and broader communities as essential partners in learning. By connecting motivational theory to actionable strategies, candidates will leave this course with the tools to build an inclusive, dynamic classroom that supports academic and social-emotional growth for all students.
