ED 4243 - Supporting Students Through Data-Driven Decision-Making (3) Students will be provided with a comprehensive overview of assessment, with special emphasis on assessing for the purposes of identification, intervention, and progress monitoring. Students will be able to make cross-programmatic connections by utilizing their working knowledge of disabilities to inform assessment purposes and processes, administer assessment protocols for a variety of students and situations, and analyze initial and ongoing assessment data for the purpose of program evaluation and effectiveness. While an emphasis will be specifically placed on students with learning and behavioral disabilities, this course is intentionally designed to talk about assessments through a variety of lenses. Some examples of this include, but are not limited to: assessment for special education through the Response to Intervention framework, assessment administration considerations for all learner types, and assessment protocols for psychological, physiological, social and emotional, pre-vocational, and transitional characteristics.
