Pre-Occupational Therapy (Pre-OT)
Total hours required: 20
This track will prepare the student with the prerequisites typical of a Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) graduate program in the state of Tennessee. Although these prerequisite courses are typical, it is incumbent upon individual students to consult with each graduate program regarding specific prerequisite courses required for admission to that particular school. Students interested in pursuing occupational therapy are not required to pursue this track nor major in Exercise Science. Successful completion of this track does not guarantee admission into an OTD program.
In addition to the courses required for the Exercise Science major, to complete the Pre-OT track, students must successfully complete the following courses:
BY 2321 - Medical Terminology (1) F, SP
MA 1123 - Trigonometry (3) F, SP
PH 1214 - Elementary College Physics I & Lab (4) F
PS 1113 - Introduction to Psychology (3) F, SP, SU
PS 2423 - Lifespan Development (3) F, SP
PS 4423 - Abnormal Psychology (3) F, SP
SO 1123 - Introduction to Sociology (3) F, SP
Because specific graduate schools may require slightly different prerequisite courses, students may substitute courses and still complete the Pre-OT track.
